About Foot / Ankle Pain
The ankle, like the knee, is a hinge joint and allows for flexion and extension movements. The ankle, being smaller in comparison to the knee, is susceptible to injury.
The hyperextension of the ankle when the foot comes into contact with the walking surface at an angle that the tendons cannot support leads to sprains and tears.
Pain in the ankle can also be due to conditions unrelated to trauma such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis and tendinitis to name a few.
